organic food
i've often wondered how the very same dish - that we've made for decades in our family - used to feed 4 and give us left overs and now barely feeds 2 with no leftovers. i know people tend to eat more nowadays but still. now i get it.
i was at my dad's and made the dish using the ingredients he had, all organic. we were three and there were leftovers. and i didn't feel hungry. i've written about vitamin content of modern fruit and veg before and started putting two and two together. maybe it wasn't just fruit and veg but all modern food that lacks not only vitamins but presumably also trace elements, etc. so the other day, i made a favourite dish of mine using organic pasta. normally, it leaves me feeling hungry despite the fact that i know the serving is big enough but with the organic pasta, i felt so full. and it lasted throughout the afternoon, meaning i required no snack later on.
conclusion: as someone mentioned on a documentary i saw recently, organic food may be more expensive but you end up eating less, so making the leap makes sense.
