think!!!

unbelievable! seriously.

i went to get my lunch in the school fridge this morning. it was empty. the fridge. empty. yet i had put in food for the day and the following day in it just yesterday - because this week is crazy and i knew this was the only way i'd be able to have decent lunches. but it was empty.

it turned out D. had emptied the fridge and, thinking all the food was from the course that finished last week, had indiscriminately thrown it all out - without even looking at it. tupperware! he threw out tupperware. and cutlery. this was all in 2 nicely packed bags. but it's D., and he's slightly slow. i know, i knew, that he hadn't done it on purpose. he'd thought he was taking initiative and doing well. but really? tupperware? i told him, you don't throw out tupperware! it's totally reusable! he was crushed. he was sweet and said he'd buy me food but that wasn't the point. he wouldn't be able to get me the good and healthy food i'd made for myself. he tried to say something but i had left - this was the drop. not his fault, but nevertheless. i'm covering for 2-3 people at the moment, whilst also trying to do my job. i'm exhausted and that was just too much for me, so i left.

D. was sweet, though. when i got back to school a few hours later, he'd bought me a massive bar of Toblerone. sweet.

i heard it on the radio the other day for the first time in years and it just reminded me of such great times. it's a great song and yes, i especially like the bagpipes.

the end of a car

that's it. it's done. after finally getting all the relevant papers for the car (and boy do you need a lot for what is basically destruction), i took it up to the scrap yard. i thought i'd be sad but in fact, it suddenly all happened so quickly that i didn't have time. after weeks of trying to get hold of people for information about how to get the paperwork, i got one paper on Monday, one last night, and when i got home today, i only had 5 mns to change before i had to take the car up, so there wasn't any time to think about it. and when i left with the final paperwork (that said it was no longer mine), it was dark and cold and i only had 10 mns to walk to the nearest bus stop or i'd have to wait another 20 mns after that to be able to get home. so that was that. the old car is gone. long live the new car.

marketing

as it turned out, the second module of my course is not actually marketing and finance but understanding marketing and finance. which i thought might be easier. hmm... not so sure anymore. either i'm not getting it or the others are just working too hard on this. and maybe it is the group. it seems the people on this module are a lot more active than my last group - that could have something to do with the fact that the other module took place over the summer! anyway, they seem to be going into great details in their answers to the activities when i tend to make it short and sweet. but let's face it, as long as i pass, i'll be happy. the question now is whether i'll pass...

walk in PLO

i had 2 hours between my classes and for once, nothing to do, really. and after days of cloudy weather, the sun was back, showing off all the beautifully coloured trees. i needed a walk. i left my bag at security and went off in a random direction. within minutes, i was walking around a really calm housing area. i'd had no idea there were so many small houses around the area. it was a great discovery, and a great invigorating walk.

finally

the guy at the car dealership never called me back. i was getting a bit pissed off, so i decided to drive up to see him. he'd have to tell me what was what and how much longer i'd have to wait.

i don't know if it's because i did go up there or if it was just a coincidence, but he promised me that i could come and get my new winter tyres/wheels the very next day - and gave me all the missing stuff. i didn't know whether to believe him or not, but as he hadn't called to cancel the appointment when i left work the next day, i went up to pick up the rest of my order. and about bloody time too!

now i just have to get the rest of the paperwork to get my old car scrapped and i'll be able to stop driving it around just to keep it alive and start driving the new car.

shopping

i needed a new pair of trousers for work - something warm, which wasn't to be found in the stores last month. and if possible, a new sweater and possibly a new skirt. and a pair of shorts for the gym and new trainers too. how much would i find? these weren't excatly new needs, but i'm quite picky with clothes so i generally leave without half the stuff i look for. however, it turned out i found loads. well, not the sport stuff - nothing that i liked anyway - but i got my trousers, a skirt, a sweater... and a dress. that wasn't on the list but i thought i should get it anyway and see what happened. i'm not a big dress person (but i have loads of skirts) but this looked just the ticket as it was a woolen dress, ie something i could actually wear in the winter with my boots. it would be different, not at all the type of thing i normally wear, but it might actually be nice - i have huge problems finding nice things to wear in the winter. and it was quite cheap so i thought i might as well give it a go.

an hour with D.

i was taking a break from studying and looked at who was on skype when i saw D. had just signed in. could this be? were we actually online at the same time? he lives in Chicago, so the time difference doesn't really help. but lo and behold, turned out he was there all right. and so we talked. it was great. i think it had been 2 years since we caught each other online (i was just on my way to Japan that morning if i recall), so it was nice to talk. i even got to see his son in action - he'll be turning 3 in January, how time flies!

the saga continues

i called the car dealer’s to see if they’d finally received the wheels. yes, they had. great, when could i come and pick them up? ah, well, they still had to fit the tyres on. they’d call me back on Friday. having not heard from them by 4pm, i called them. well, the problem was that all the tyres hadn’t actually arrived yet. speechless, i was. they had never mentioned anything about the tyres being missing. in fact, back before i signed on the whole deal, i’d enquired about the tyres, as i knew there was a shortage of winter tyres in Europe, and i’d been assured this wouldn’t be a problem. but it turned out it was. the guy nevertheless assured me that everything would be ready by the end of next week. right. of course. like everything was supposed to be ready for pick up 2 weeks ago…
