Cannes - the wedding

the whole reason we all descended on Cannes was M&D's wedding. it wasn't originally supposed to take place down there, but i think M's parents put their foot down and decided that a local BBQ in various locations wasn't good enough. there should at least be some kind of main ceremony, some sort of formal meal and a dress. but the event was kept small, as planned. so 37 of us (including 4 kids) all found ourselves at M's parents' place - a nice house with a small garden - to celebrate. the instructions were to wear hawaiian shirts for men and flowery things for women.

as neither M. nor D. is religious, there was no priest. instead, the ceremony was performed by a friend. and it was incredibly moving. perhaps it was the fact that we were the chosen few, or just what was said, i don't know, but i basically cried all the way through. many of us did, including the bride and groom. it was one of the best weddings i've been to.
