green facts 5

the use of disposable nappies lengthens the time it takes for a child to become clean, as the absorption means that they don't feel so wet so often. when you know a child needs about 4550 nappies (more than 1 ton) before being clean... although reusable nappies are not 'in', using them makes more sense for the baby and for the environment.

more nappy facts:
-
disposable nappies represent 4% of the garbage produced in Switzerland
- disposable nappies produce 60% more garbage than reusable ones
- 'classic' disposable nappies take about 500 years to decompose
- producing disposable nappies uses 3.5 times more energy, 8 times more non-renewable raw materials and 90 times more renewable raw materials than reusable nappies

weekend with the twins

spent the weekend in the Forest of Dean with my friend S. and her lovely twins. they've grown so much since last year! they're now walking around, rolling around, grabbing things, and although it makes no sense, talking a lot. they have their own personality, the little missy knowing what she wants and the little man being incredibly patient with her... adorable.

new glasses

i've had the same pair of glasses for nearly 7 years, and that was it. i wore nothing else, until i got a 'just in case' pair last summer, which i don't wear all that much, really. so i really need to splash on a new pair. two, on fact, as i need sunglasses, too. so i finally got an appointment to see my eye doctor and confirm my vision hadn't actually changed. then i spent 45 mns at the optician's yesterday. so many choices... but i had time constraints, so i went back this morning and i finally settled on my two new pairs. i was hoping to settle for some cheap frames, and while they're cheaper than most, it's still gonna be pretty expensive. oh, and the actual glasses need to be extra-light and extra-slim as they otherwise weigh too much, give me a headache. and those i really need, so i can't shave off a few euros there. so my new glasses will be ready in about a week... at the cost of 835 euros! just great. exactly what i needed with my current financial status...

should have stayed AWOL

a few weeks back, i reported that my physiotherapist had disappeared. he was found again. and i got an appointment. and then i got a lot more pain than i had before going in! he fixed my right shoulder, but killed the left one in the process, so that i could barely move it for a whole day. i called him up and got another appointment right away, as i was seriously suffering. it helped (i was able to move again), but the pain stayed. just great. i got another appointment for the next day again, and he found out that one of my muscles wasn't where it should have been, which apparently explained some of the pain. now i don't see him till Monday, which is another 3 days away, and the pain is still there, from the bottom of my shoulders all the way across to the base of my skull. just great. i'm sleeping better, but still not anywhere near well, which makes for one very tired Super M.!

Ireland-Wales

and Wales just won their 4th game in a row! excellent! no matter how they play against France next week, they're just so far ahead points-wise that they're going to win the cup this year. nice one, boys!

les enfoirés

aujourd'hui, on n'a plus le droit
ni d'avoir faim, ni d'avoir froid
dépassé, les chacun pour soi
quand je pense à toi, je pense à moi
je te promets pas le grand soir
juste à manger et à boire
un peu de pain et de chaleur
pour les restos, les restos du coeur

youtube

i don't spend all that much time surfing the net, to be honest. i don't spend hours on facebook (i'm not even on it) or on games or anything. i usually just connect, check emails, post a couple of things on a couple of sites and get back to the real world. but i must admit, i do like youtube. you find the weirdest things on there. i'm currently going through a phase of looking for old songs i haven't heard in years. currently playing is John Farnham's 'You're the Voice' (all 5.08mns of it). and the other day, i went through all Star Wars episodes explained in 30s. fun stuff (Attack of the Clones was hilarious!). and yes, i can see how i could end up spending hours on it. but i will not. i will not. oh, go on, just once more...
