green facts 5

the use of disposable nappies lengthens the time it takes for a child to become clean, as the absorption means that they don't feel so wet so often. when you know a child needs about 4550 nappies (more than 1 ton) before being clean... although reusable nappies are not 'in', using them makes more sense for the baby and for the environment.

more nappy facts:
-
disposable nappies represent 4% of the garbage produced in Switzerland
- disposable nappies produce 60% more garbage than reusable ones
- 'classic' disposable nappies take about 500 years to decompose
- producing disposable nappies uses 3.5 times more energy, 8 times more non-renewable raw materials and 90 times more renewable raw materials than reusable nappies
