gone

she's gone. we got her checked in 3 hours ahead of time, to deal with the seating issue, then we walked around for a while, giving her leg exercise, and we had lunch. a bit more walking and there was no delaying anymore. i'm so proud of her going off studying again, and finally going on that adventure she never gave herself. she's going to love it. but now my flat's all empty. i got my space back and i kind of wish i hadn't.

3 months

so my sister's now been living with me for 3 months. it was just supposed to be 10 days at the beginning of September but she returned a couple of weeks later, for a month. once she'd done all the signing up needed for the school she's going to in Australia, she needed to sort a few things out. it was easier to do from here. and suddenly it was December and she wasn't going to be able to go to LA first so she decided to stay and spend Christmas at home. after all, her course is 2 years long and it's doubtful she'll have time to come home for a visit in between. so off to my father's we went and had some nice family time. now we're back here and she's leaving tomorrow. and it's going to be the saddest thing for me. cos after 19 years, it took us a while to adjust to get used to living together again! and now that i'm used to it... plus, we've normally managed to see each other 2-4 times a year since i returned from Japan 9 years ago. it's going to be tough.
