interesting job interview

since things aren't going amazingly well in my school - the boss seems to change his mind about stuff daily, people are so stressed they have to take long sick-leaves, etc - i decided to be a little more active in job hunting. and so on Friday, i had my second job interview in two months. and this one was a lot more promising...

it lasted over an hour and the girl (i should probably call her something else, especially as she was the one and only boss, but she's my age and it felt more like girls talking than anything else) was really nice. the job sounds very interesting, despite a couple of drawbacks, so altogether, i'm up for it. i'll know tomorrow. the only thing is, she would want the person to start straightaway, whereas she'd originally said it would be part-time until the new year, which i could swing somewhat easily. but if she chooses me, she'll have to stick to the original plan...

Osanbashi in its heydays

if you know Yokohama, you know the recently revamped Osanbashi pier as an architectural feat (or so i believe it was described in Newsweek, when it re-opened). just before you get there, though, there's this wallpainting depicting what i'm guessing it looked like in the early 20th century. very different.

eco-building?

i love this building! i've always known is covered like this. notice that some of the windows on the left have totally disappeared - i wonder how the workers feel in there?

taken in Yokohama.

RWC 4 - crushed

it's unbelievable. i'm still in shock. their game was far superior, at least in the second half, where they did amazing work and had 65% of the possession. but the French picked up the balls in those few moments just before the All Blacks got to their line, and off they went.

i did everything i could: wore the shirt, screamed my head off in support, but to no avail. i'm so disappointed. and Australia lost against England, another shocker.

stink!

i've had to sit next to people who don't smell very nice, and i know i have so far been fortunate in that it's not been for long, and that the smell, whilst unpleasant, was livable. but this new guy who takes my bus who just reeks. no kidding. it's so bad that his smell permeates everything and stays there: even when he's not in the bus, the place where he last sat on his last journey smells incredibly bad. i don't know if he's never ever washed or if he never ever washes his clothes, but it's getting just a tad uncomfortable. people might even start taking their car to work...

a government ploy?

i might be wrong, but if i've understood the current French political situation correctly, it goes like this: the government, who wants to raise taxes despite promising not to (or rather, create a new 'social' tax, whatever that means), needs an excuse to make people think there is no other way. that's why they've spent the last 2 weeks telling the population that France is totally bankrupt. they've made quite a show of it, too. thankfully, some politicians have actually stood up and said that there was no way the country was that much worse off than it was just recently, and thus not bankrupt. and this is when we think: who elected those people? and why did they for one minute think that the politicians would keep their word? what politician does? and before you ask, i'm not entitled to vote, so no, it wasn't me!

sunny weekends

i don't know how the summer was in other parts of the world, but here, it was pretty non-existent. we did, however, have very nice and sunny weekends. in fact, the weekend just gone was the first, after 17 consecutive weekends, not to be perfect. lucky us. the definite plus side is that at least we had nice weather when we were off work!

RWC 3

i'm gutted! i didn't get to see the game, unfortunately, but i get to feel incredibly let-down. how could Wales lose? i'm sure the Fijians played really well and all, but come on! one more try and the Red Dragons were in the quarter finals. i am deeply disappointed...
