the fish pedicure
for my birthday, i got a fish pedicure from 2 friends of mine. by the time we found a time we could all go, it was mid-June, but we finally made it. and what an experience!
after we'd washed out feet, we were led to three small separate pools of water teeming with tiny fish. as we put our feet in the water, we all had the same reaction: OMG! it felt a little like small amounts of electricity going through our feet. it was weird, and S. voiced her surprise with a scream, M. by pulling her feet back out. both of them were unconvinced by this (which is funny, seen as they were the ones who bought it) and seemed, for a minute, ready to leave. but then S. said they should at least sit it out - half an hour wasn't that long - and base their conclusions on the full session. and, little by little, we all got used to it, and even started joking about it.
the weird thing was that the fish didn't seem to concentrate on the areas of our feet that we thought they would concentrate on. but maybe we were expecting too much. our feet were definitely smoother when we got out, but you'd presumably have to do it regularly for calluses to disappear. a normal pedicure would have been more useful for that. but still, it was a fun experience!
