The funniest play
i went to this Writing Group workshop, the other day, and the afternoon part was dedicated to 'critiquing' works by fellow members. the theme of the day was plays. and that's when i heard the funniest story. this guy had started writing a play about our worst nightmare, namely, the Bush family taking over the US. it was set in 2024, and the tenth Bush president had just been elected! i kid you not. and it was totally hilarious. not the actual idea, of course, but the unfolding plot (which i won't tell you about, unfortunately, cos he's not finished writing it and i wouldn't want to spoil the surprise).
what's my point here? ah yes, i was just thinking that, when bad things happen, we should try to think about how much worse it really could be. nothing new there, obviously, but try to work a Harry Potter spin on it and think about the most ridiculous thing it could turn into. and have yourselves a good laugh.
